The Lyttleton Summary

 This is my summary of the article of the Lyttleton tunnel. The Lyttleton tunnel has recently been in the news. It has been on the news because it is celebrating the 50Th anniversary. Lyttleton tunnel has came to the 50 year mark. It is a happy time for the Lyttleton tunnel fans. Lyttleton Tunnel is in Christchurch and is one of the most biggest tunnels in New Zealand.

Here are my two pieces of writing they each have the same topic the Treaty Of Waitangi. I did to because I had them unfinished so I decide to finish them. ENJOY!!!.

Treaty of Waitangi

In the 1840’s, 174 years ago there was a treaty that was signed by                               british people and maori people, It was an agreement to stop the problems that kept occurring in new zealand.

The Queen had instructed William Hobson to come up with a treaty in three months time. On the last day of the three months that Hobson got to finish it, he still hadn’t translated it from english to maori. Mr Hobson had to work hard to get the job done so that the maori people would have  treaty to sign.

it didn’t look like he was that interested because he didn’t have a positive attitude. When he had finally translated the treaty and took it over new zealand it was the 6th of February 1840.

When Hobson presented the treaty it was in waitangi that’s why the treaty is called the treaty of waitangi. In the progress of signing the treaty there was a whole lot of debate and maori chiefs not signing. As it came closer to the day some of the chiefs had came to their senses and others whanau had convinced them.

The treaty is now a really old document that has been around for  

Picture yourself in the 1840s when there was only a few house’s and was also Maraes, Tents, Marquees and little shacks. The land was grassy and sandy. Several british people had packed food and sailed over to new zealand. By the time they got there the food was finished because they had ate it all on their voyage. Who would blame them their journey was 11,426km they must of been hungry?  When they arrived at N.Z the Maoris provided them with food and shelter.

The Queen had already instructed William Hobson to go over to N.Z in three months time with a treaty that still needed to be made up.

Three Months passed and Hobson was on his way to New Zealand to present the treaty. When the maori chiefs had thought through the treaty and signed it everything was going smoothly.

until the british didn’t keep their part of the deal. Thats because the Treaty meant to different things. The maori chiefs confronted the british and made them keep up their part of the deal. But the british kept using New Zealand for sovereignty. So the maori’s spoke up and made it good.

How I feel about the treaty I feel that the treaty means a lot because of how long it’s been around also how it made New Zealand a safe and happy place. Thinking of the treaty it is a very important document especially to new Zealand Citizens.

The Point England Way

At Point England Primary/Intermediate we have values and our title for them is called the Point England Way. We have them at Point England School so that we can learn better and be a good school and community. The purpose of it is to help each other get on better and to love and care for one another. The Values are for our attitude our self-being and our knowledge.

We started to do the Point England Way approximately thirteen years ago. Alot of these value are said in assembly's. Each value has come across being in assembly more than 5 time's for the past thirteen years.Alot of these values are said as weekly koreros. We have a quiz to help us remember them each time we remember it we go on to the stage and say it to the school. We also get a principal's award.

The Point England Way affects our learning because it helps us to get up and put a positive attitude on all our subjects. Don't get me wrong it also help's us at Morning tea and lunch. It help's us with sports and other activities. The Point England Way isn't always for school it is for outside of school too. Even though were not in school we still have to represent it in front of the community.

Some of the Korero’s are Tiaki Taonga, Kia Pai Te Kotahi, Purua To Potai. These are our korero’s that are translated in maori and if you don’t know what they mean I will tell you. Tiaki Taonga means to care, for our family community our learning and most of all our school. Kia Pai Te Kotahi means that it is better together. Last but not least is Purua To Potai which means to put your hat on. There are plenty more koreros but I thought that those three should be enough.

How the Point England Way helps me. The Point England Way helps me when I am at home, school and when anywhere. It also helps me when at sports trainings. I am really sure that if anybody learnt the Point England Way it would help them.

Prize Giving

Prize Giving is coming up! Around the school we are all doing last minute practices and putting our items together for Thursday night.  We have 2 days left until we show our performances get awards and come together as a school, community and family. Anyone is invited to come see there children perform or even get awards or just come for a good show.

If you don't know what prize giving is it is when the year 1-8 children put an item together getting ready for the end of the year. Teachers usually start practicing 5-3 weeks before the event depending if there busy with trips or special events.

I am a year 7 and we have been busy with camp and other events so we only had a little bit of time but two days to the actual event we have gotten our item together and we are just doing the finishing touches and our costumes.

I can't wait to see everybody's performance and acts tomorrow night!

Mele, Ashlee and Javana Hold My Hand Akon Ft Micheal Jackson

We made a MTV about Micheal Jackson we got the opportunity to pick our group. I picked Mele and Javana we then started making our MTV our song choice was Hold My Hand Akon Ft Micheal Jackson. Through out the progress it looked funny but when we sat down it started to get better.

This is our finished project!

My Surgery

For the last couple of days I have been resting at home after surgery. I had to have surgery because I had a sore stomach that turned out to be appendicitis it was painful but heres how it started and why I had to go to the hospital. Heres why.

On Tuesday Morning I went to the doctors for a check up to see what was making my stomach hurt so bad. The doctor saw me and didn't no what was wrong he sent me to the hospital just incase it was anything serious.

When I got to the hospital it was fast to get into Ed but it was a long time waiting for all sorts of test. Finally I got put in to a hospital bed waiting to have surgery it was a scary progress but I managed to stay strong. The next day when I woke up it was sore. I tried getting up and trying to move my bones.

My first couple of steps gave me a weird feeling because of all the medicine I had before I woke up. Throughout the day the pain was easing and I was able to go home. When I did get home my brother was ready to tackle me until I showed my plasters.

When I got home I still made the progress of getting better enough to attend school on Monday. I am now at school and feeling way better.
